Volunteer If you love working with kids, technology, or making a difference in underserved communities, Camp Rumi needs you! We're looking for friendly and enthusiastic college students – from teachers to engineers – to serve as mentors and coordinate programs in our locations.
If together this transformation could be begun, “ Schools a hundred years from now will sit at the heart of a learning society and allow youth from any country in the world—rich or poor—to have the same opportunities to create a better world ”. -Hawkins, D.(Author)
Volunteers are the cornerstones of this organization. They teach, inspire, lead, mentor, touch, and of course, learn! As a Camp Rumi counselor, you will empower those in greatest need with the gifts of knowledge, self-confidence, and passion for technology. You will be teacher, role model, friend and mentor as you form the roots of relationships that will last a lifetime.
Our goal is not merely to teach campers computer skills as an end in themselves, but rather as a means to enhance their learning and potentially benefit society. Studies show that long-term mentorship works: consistent relationships will reduce high school dropout rates by 64% and more than double the likelihood that the participants will make it to college.
Whatever your background or interest, there are ways you can help Camp Rumi. Even if you do not prefer or are unable to work directly with children, there is plenty else to be done: fundraising, publicity, curriculum development -- the list goes on. We sincerely hope you will join our vibrant and dynamic group in our mission to end the cycle of poverty, one child at a time.
Please don't hesitate to contact us with questions or interest!
